Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 16 October 2026

1. About Us

Containers Yard, accessible at containersyard.com, is operated by CONTAINER YARD LIMITED, company registration number 11792002.

Our contact details are:

Address: 524 St Albans Road, Watford, WD24 7RX, United Kingdom
Email: sales@containersyard.com
Telephone: 07459 878425

These terms apply to purchases from Containers Yard. Please read them alongside our Shipping Policy, Returns and Refunds Policy and Payment Policy.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts your statutory rights.

2. Product Information

Product listings describe the container’s advertised specification, condition and included features. Please review these details before ordering and ask us to clarify anything that is important to your intended use.

Category photographs are illustrative. Where a photograph is illustrative rather than of the actual unit offered, it must not be treated as confirmation of that unit’s appearance or condition.

Used containers may show wear consistent with their disclosed condition. This does not excuse an undisclosed fault or a material difference from the agreed description.

Features, dimensions, shipping suitability and any certifications must be confirmed for the particular unit. We will not substitute a materially different unit without your agreement.

3. Quotations and Order Acceptance

To request a quotation, provide your container requirements, quantity, delivery postcode and relevant site information.

A quotation or acknowledgement of an enquiry does not, by itself, confirm acceptance of an order. A contract is formed when we expressly confirm acceptance of your order in writing.

Before acceptance, we will confirm the unit, total price, payment requirements and delivery arrangements. Any quotation expiry date will be stated on the quotation.

If we cannot accept your order, we will explain the reason and refund any payment received for it.

4. Prices, Currency and VAT

The applicable price and currency will be shown in your quotation and invoice.

Before you commit to an order, we will state the total payable, including applicable VAT and delivery charges. Any additional service or charge requires your express agreement.

Our standard shipping fee is £500 separate from the container price. Its application to your order will be confirmed before purchase.

If payment requires currency conversion, the payment instructions and applicable amount must be agreed before the transfer is made.

An error does not give us the right to increase an agreed price without your consent. If an error is discovered before order acceptance, we will explain it and allow you to proceed at the corrected price or decline the order.

5. Payment

UK bank transfer is our only accepted payment method.

Use the bank details and payment reference provided on your invoice. Check all details before transferring funds and contact us if anything is unclear.

Payment is confirmed when cleared funds have reached our account and have been matched to your order. A transfer receipt alone is not confirmation of receipt.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, handling and dispatch begin after payment has cleared and the order specification and delivery details have been confirmed.

6. Delivery Area and Times

We deliver within the United Kingdom only.

Our estimated shipping times are:

StageEstimated time
Handling and preparation1–7 days
Transit after dispatch1–3 days
Total estimated shipping time2–10 days

These periods are calendar days and begin once payment has cleared and the required order and delivery details have been confirmed.

We will contact you about delivery scheduling and any known delay. An estimate does not remove your legal rights concerning late delivery.

If we miss an agreed delivery deadline, contact us. Where legally required, you may set an appropriate additional delivery period or cancel the contract, including where an essential delivery deadline was agreed before purchase.

7. Site Access and Unloading

You must provide accurate delivery information and disclose known access restrictions before delivery is arranged.

Relevant information includes:

  • Road, entrance and gateway restrictions.
  • Turning space and vehicle access.
  • Overhead cables, branches and other obstructions.
  • Ground conditions, slopes and weight restrictions.
  • Available unloading and placement space.

Your quotation or order confirmation will identify the agreed delivery and unloading arrangements.

If you agree to provide unloading equipment, you are responsible for arranging suitable equipment and competent operators.

Delivery or unloading may be stopped if it cannot be completed safely. Any proposed additional or redelivery charges must be reasonable, explained and agreed before further arrangements are made. We will not charge you for a failure caused by us.

8. Delivery Checks and Risk

Please inspect the container on arrival where reasonably possible. Report visible damage, an incorrect unit or a discrepancy promptly, providing photographs where available.

Signing delivery paperwork does not remove your right to report a fault that was not reasonably apparent at delivery.

For consumer purchases, the risk of loss or damage normally passes to you when you, or a person you nominate, takes physical possession. Different rules may apply where you independently appoint a carrier that we did not offer.

9. Consumer Cancellation Rights

For eligible purchases made online, by telephone or by email, consumers may cancel without giving a reason until 14 calendar days after the day of delivery. You may also cancel before delivery.

Notify us by email, post or another clear statement of your decision. Include your name, order reference and contact details.

After cancellation, you normally have a further 14 calendar days to return the goods. If we agree to collect the container, make it available for the agreed collection.

Our Returns and Refunds Policy explains the arrangements in more detail.

10. Return Costs and Condition

For a change-of-mind cancellation, you are responsible for direct return transport costs only where that responsibility and the cost, or a reasonable estimate, were disclosed before purchase.

Containers require specialist transport. Contact us to confirm the receiving location and transport arrangements before organising a return.

You may inspect the container to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning. A proportionate deduction may apply if unnecessary handling or alterations reduce its value. We will explain any deduction.

These provisions do not restrict your rights concerning faulty or misdescribed goods.

11. Bespoke and Personalised Orders

The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right generally does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised. Any applicable exception will be identified before purchase.

A standard stock container is not automatically excluded because it already contains modifications or fittings.

If you request cancellation of an order without a statutory cancellation right, contact us promptly. Any proposed charge must reflect lawful, reasonable losses, taking account of costs saved and steps available to reduce those losses.

Rights concerning faulty or misdescribed goods remain unaffected.

12. Faulty, Damaged or Misdescribed Goods

Goods supplied to consumers must meet applicable legal requirements, including being as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for an agreed purpose.

Consumers generally have a 30-day short-term right to reject qualifying faulty goods. Repair, replacement, a price reduction or a refund may be available depending on the circumstances.

Contact us with your order reference and details of the problem. Where you are entitled to a remedy, we will cover reasonable necessary collection or return costs.

The 14-day change-of-mind period does not limit your rights concerning faults.

13. Refunds

For an eligible cancellation, we issue refunds without undue delay and within 10 calendar days of receiving the goods back or evidence of their return, whichever occurs first. If we have offered to collect the goods, we refund within 10 calendar days of the cancellation notice.

For an accepted faulty-goods rejection, we refund within 10 calendar days of agreeing your entitlement.

An eligible consumer cancellation of the whole order includes reimbursement of the standard outbound delivery charge. Any extra amount paid for an enhanced delivery service need not be refunded.

Refunds are made by bank transfer to the original paying account unless another arrangement is expressly agreed.

14. Business Purchases

A business purchaser buys wholly or mainly for purposes connected with its trade, business, craft or profession.

Business purchases do not carry the same statutory cooling-off rights as consumer purchases. Any contractual cancellation or return rights will be stated in the agreed quotation or order terms.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Intended Use and Site Requirements

Tell us before ordering if you are relying on a container being suitable for a particular purpose.

You are responsible for checking site-specific requirements, including any permissions, consents, utility connections or installation work needed for your proposed use, unless we expressly agree to undertake them.

This does not remove our responsibility to supply goods matching the agreed description or any purpose on which you reasonably relied and which we accepted.

16. Our Responsibility

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to exercise legally required care and skill.

We do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

For consumer purchases, these terms do not exclude mandatory consumer protections.

17. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

If an event outside our reasonable control affects an order, we will notify you and take reasonable steps to reduce its impact.

This does not give us an unlimited right to postpone delivery or retain payment. Your applicable cancellation and refund rights remain available.

18. Complaints

Send complaints to sales@containersyard.com, including your order reference, a description of the issue and the outcome you are seeking.

We will investigate and explain our proposed resolution. If a consumer complaint remains unresolved, we will provide information about an appropriate alternative dispute resolution body and whether we are willing or obliged to participate, where required.

19. Personal Information

We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.

Do not send banking passwords, PINs or security codes through our website or by email.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms for future orders. Changes will not retrospectively alter an existing contract without your agreement, except where legally required.

The terms supplied when your order is accepted apply to that order.

21. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Consumers retain the protection of mandatory laws applicable where they live and may bring proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable law. These terms do not require a UK consumer to use only the courts of England and Wales.

22. Optional Cancellation Notice

You may use the wording below to cancel an eligible order, but you do not have to use this format:
